Note: Austrian architect Josef Hoffmann designed a wide range of Aufsatz bowls in planished brass and silver, of this form, from the 1920s, retailed through his company the Wiener Werkstatte. The design, form and quality of craftsmanship is typical of Hoffmann and the Werkstatte. Illustrated examples of similar bowls are in worldwide collections including the MAK, Vienna.
