λ An 18th century articulated ivory fan, the ivory sticks and guards finely carved, pierced, silvered and gilt, each of the upper guards with a roundel under glass containing an articulated figure, each worked by a hidden lever, the front guard has a female figure who raises her hand upon which there is a small bird, the rear guard has a gentleman, who, when the lever is operated, raises his hat to his face, the leaf which is mounted 'a l'anglaise' depicts a scene of Aeneas carrying his aged father from Troy, the verso with a simple sketch of a plinth, along with what appears to be an old price ticket, 27cm long (boxed)
