William De Morgan has always occupied a special place in the history of British art pottery. His work is revered today by collectors and, produced over three decades, his tiles, vases and chargers are included in museums and art galleries around the world.
This exhibition celebrates the creations of William De Morgan, from a simple foliate BBB tile used as a repeat in the cast iron fireplaces of Barnard, Bishop & Barnard to the larger, unique vases and chargers held in private collections. Also on display in the exhibition will be a selection of William Morris tiles from the Richard & Hilary Myers collection and works by De Morgan’s contemporaries including Maw & Co, John Pearson and Bushey Heath Pottery (designed by Fred Passenger).
