Laurence Scarfe (British, 1914-1993), Royal Coat of Arms commissioned by the Central Office of Information, 1963, gold heightened silkscreen colour print, 100 by 73cm, framed, together with a newspaper clipping dated December 29 1963, announcing the newly completed design in full colour and it's first appearance as frontispiece to the 1964 edition of the Central Office of Information handbook 'Britain'

Note: A significant figure in British modernism, Laurence Scarfe was a multidisciplinary artist remembered for his murals at major international art and industry expositions, poster and graphic design for national bodies: the BBC, the Post Office and London Transport (1939-69). His work is represented in significant collections including the Tate Gallery, the Imperial War Museum, the Government Art Collection and the Victoria & Albert Museum.
