Keith Murray for Mappin and Webb, an Art Deco silver sugar shaker, London 1937, fluted conical form with slightly splayed and crenelated rim, on a stepped foot, the inset domed cover with conical finial, pierced with stylised geometric patterns, 15.5cm high, 8.63ozt Note: having worked for Wedgwood designing ceramics, Murray was employed by Mappin and Webb to produce items of silver and silver plate from 1934 onwards. Although this sugar caster was probably never mass produced, perhaps being a commission through its London office, the design reflects Murray's well known biscuit barrel produced for Wedgwood a few years earlier.
